I think we all agreed the ending was a surprise to many.   We loved the way her life’s joy of being in the marsh and studying it’s wonders became her success in life.    Trust was a huge issue with Kya and rightly so.   I can’t imagine being left alone as she was with a man she feared.   She grew up wild but smart in the marsh she loved.   I think it would have been pure heaven to be free in the marsh as a child but balanced by a loving family which was painfully missing in her life.
