photo jan 25, 12 25 09 amDoesn’t book club just rock. Seriously.  What a great meeting everyone!  We had three new members – welcome.  Hopefully we did not scare you off.  ::he he he::::

Thanks Scarlette (Jeff & Teka) for hosting.  Always love being in your warm and inviting home.   From 6:30 to 7pm we catch up, grab vino, nibbles then at 7pm we begin.  Author bio on Tara Westover can be found HERE

There’s so much out there on the internet on the Westover family.  It’s been fascinating exploring the slice of life that Tara Westover has unveiled to the world.   Many of us feel that so much has been left out of the story.

I could go on and on with the videos out there!

Remember the book The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls?   Educated was similar in the very unconventional childhood of Jeannette Walls.   However Glass Castle parents were neglectful while Educated parents were extreme radicals with the father having mental illness.     He distorted facts in real life to suit the needs of end of the world type scenarios with his family.   The violence of brother Shawn and how the family sweeps it under the rug so to speak is mind boggling.  From talking last night the Mormon belief is Patriarchal where women must get to God through a man.    I’m incredulous that this is even in existence… but .. alas it is!  :::::::shaking my head::::::   Her mother LaRee is educated herself but is cowered by a domineering mentally ill husband.   Just sad!!!  Her mothers business Butterfly Express is wildly successful launched and very popular after her father’s near death burning.   For the website click HERE

Oddly enough, some of the family members are on FB of all things.  Being all… radical and such.   Here’s a photo Tyler Westover and family
